Scope and Content: “A Summer (1946) Spent at the Roscoe B. Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine.” The seven double-sided scrapbook is beautifully laid out and presented, and contains 42 b/w photographs (with typed narrative) of the Lab, Bar Harbor, fishing trips, the coast, and fellow scientists.

            “The 16 of us, 10 women and 6 men, ate, slept worked in the laboratory,

            read scientific texts or freud or novels or the newspaper, swam in the frigid

            ocean or in Echo Lake, climbed the mountains, photographed, sketched,

            painted, fished, attended summer opera, and finally, made love.”
